What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind with special identifying characteristics:
  1. An extraordinary quality of relaxation.
  2. An instinctual desire to satisfy the suggested behaviour: You feel like doing what the Hypnotherapist suggests, provided that what is suggested does not generate conflict with your belief system.
  3. Heightened and selective sensitivity to stimuli perceived by the five senses and three basic perceptions.

Hypnosis is a trance state characterised by extreme relaxation, heightened imagination and suggestibility.

Why is change sometimes difficult?

Our mind works on two levels, the Conscious and the Unconscious.
For the most part we act, think and make decisions consciously, using the rational mind. Where as the unconscious mind governs our basic processes, from our beating hearts to our raw emotions, experienced when confronted with our phobias for example. This can be referred to as the primitive mind.

Most habits, beliefs and attitudes are maintained and stored in the unconscious mind and prove extremely difficult to change consciously.

Hypnosis can generate direct communication with your unconscious mind.
And when guided properly through a hypnotic trance, our minds and bodies are able to accept change more effortlessly.
